Anthemion Auctions saleroom team are currently battling their way around an enormous amount of antique furniture and furnishings in preparation for their autumn fine art sale on the 20th November 2013. Due to an unprecedented quantity of furniture coming in for auction, the saleroom has been extended to its maximum capacity, and when laid out, will resemble a wonderland of chandeliers, rugs from around the world, 18th and 19th century bookcases, bureaus, tables, sofas, chairs and curiosity pieces.

The wonderful furniture selection is adorned in this sale by fine porcelain, an array of silver and glasswares, over 150 lots of jewellery, oil paintings and watercolours, militaria and works of art.

Among the works of art is a stunning French Marble statue of cupid, his hands tied behind his back; according to Roman mythology, a measure taken by his mother Venus to prevent the chaos he caused to the mortals down on earth. Amidst the abundant saleroom over which he presides, are two ten branch lustre drop chandeliers valued at £800-1000 together with one of the stars of the jewellery selection, in the form of a magnificent diamond cluster ring estimated at £2000-£3000.

Anthemion’s saleroom (located at 15 Norwich Road, off Newport Road in Cardiff) will be open to the general public for viewing on Monday 18th November between 9am and 5pm and on Tuesday 19th November between 9 a.m and 6.30p.m. The auction begins at 11.00 on the 20th November, and the full sale catalogue is available to view via www.anthemionauctions.com.
