Overflowing with antique furnishings

Anthemion Auctions saleroom team are currently battling their way around an enormous amount of antique furniture and furnishings in preparation for their autumn fine art sale on the 20^th November 2013. Due to an unprecedented quantity of furniture coming in for auction, the saleroom has been extended to its maximum capacity, and when laid out, will resemble a wonderland of chandeliers, rugs from around the world, 18^th and 19^th century bookcases, bureaus, tables, sofas, chairs and curiosity pieces.

A Vienna regulator type wall clock, the carved and C scrolling cornice above half section columns and a glazed door, the caddy base carved with leaves and turned, the dial with Roman numerals and a seconds subsidiary dial, 145cm high x 48cm wide. A 19th century Low Countries oak court cupboard, the moulded cornice above a shallow frieze with lions head terminals, three recessed geometric panelled doors held aloft by terminal figures, the base with two drawers with mask handles, and two cupboard doors on a plinth base, 161 cm wide by 65.5 cm deep by 202 cm high. A 19th century French Ormolu & marble mantle clock, the surmount in the form of a figure dancing amongst vines, grapes and urns, the clock dial with Roman numerals on scrolling leaf capped feet, the movement inscribed E. A 19th century walnut longcase clock, the domed hood with ionic columns and a long trunk door with an arched top, box base and bracket feet, the 30cm dial painted with an urn and flowers to the arch and floral spandrels, with Roman numerals, a seconds subsidiary dial and calendar aperture marked " E Cohen, Redruth", the eight day movement striking on a bell", 204cm high. The wonderful furniture selection is adorned in this sale by fine porcelain, an array of silver and glasswares, over 150 lots of jewellery, oil paintings and watercolours, militaria and works of art.

Among the works of art is a stunning French Marble statue of cupid, his hands tied behind his back; according to Roman mythology, a measure taken by his mother Venus to prevent the chaos he caused to the mortals down on earth. Amidst the abundant saleroom over which he presides, are two ten branch lustre drop chandeliers valued at £800-1000 together with one of the stars of the jewellery selection, in the form of a magnificent diamond cluster ring estimated at £2000-£3000.
