Typically there are a lot or two in the sale that could be classified under the category of quirky, or unusual & we love to see this kind of thing come through the door. Last Friday we had a big consignment of unusual items which has our whole team buzzing with excitement…..but I can’t talk about that yet, as I don’t have any photos to share!

So, instead, I thought I’d pick out a sample of some quirky or unusual items from yesterday’s auction instead.

Sold for £270 – A chrome plated Humber Pullman car mascot, in the form of a rearing stallion, mounted on a wooden base, 15cm high (not including base)
Sold for £380 – A Brass and copper US navy diving helmet, bears a label “U.S.Navy Diving Helmet Mark V, Morse Diving Equipment Co Inc, Boston Mass, 8-29-41, 54cm high including plinth
Sold for £490 – A Prince of Wales Investiture Chair, The Earl of Snowden and Carl Toms, a red painted beech and laminate elbow chair produced for the Investiture of the Prince of Wales the back gilt decorated with the Prince of Wales feathers and motto Ich Dien with a padded seat 77cm high, 4000 of these chairs were produced for the 1969 Investiture at Caernarfon Castle North Wales, together with a related seat cushion
