Our latest Monthly General Sale brought spirited bidding and a wonderfully varied catalogue, with some cracking results right across the room. Here are a few of the day’s standout lots.
Leading the way was a 2017 Audi Q2 Sport TFSI (Lot 300), which drove off to a new home at a hammer price of £8,200. Motoring interest ran strong throughout, with a 2012 Citroën C1 VTR+ (Lot 298) also finding a buyer at £1,250.
Sporting memorabilia was a real star of the day. A superb collection of sporting ephemera (Lot 269) — taking in tennis club rules and bye-laws dating back to 1888, cycling and athletics badges, and vintage Olympic and Empire Games brochures — climbed to £1,600. An extensive collection of football pin badges (Lot 266) reached £1,100, while a run of football season tickets (Lot 297) from Wolves, Chelsea, Tottenham and Cardiff City made £650.
There was plenty of sparkle too. A comprehensive collection of silver proof coins (Lot 290) realised £630, and gold sovereigns held their shine — an Elizabeth II 1980 sovereign (Lot 286) and a 2005 gold bullion sovereign (Lot 285) each fetching £620.
A piece of Welsh royal history also caught the eye: a Prince of Wales Investiture chair (Lot 22) — designed by Lord Snowdon with Carl Toms and John Pound, and made by Remploy for the 1969 Investiture of HRH The Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle — sold for £520.
